About the Geneva Human Rights Hub

Geneva Human Rights Hub

Located at the heart of International Geneva, the Hub connects the diplomatic community, multilateral organizations, academia, the tech sector and civil society to:

  • Foster dialogue and collaboration
  • Test innovative solutions
  • Turn scientific research into real-world impact

Through applied experimentation and forward-looking initiatives, we work to render human rights mechanisms more effective and sustainable, while empowering national actors to play a stronger role.

A core part of our mission is hands-on training, offering participants practical experience with UN human rights mechanisms. These programs are organized along thematic or procedural learning pathways, ensuring tailored and immersive engagement.

A ‘MECHANISMS ATELIER’

Through convening, experimentation and applied analysis, the GHRH contributes to the continuous improvement of Geneva-based human rights mechanisms and bodies. It translates dialogue and evidence into practical solutions that support their long-term sustainability and capacity to respond to rapidly evolving human rights challenges.

The GHRH serves as a neutral platform for cooperation, enabling diverse human rights actors to work across institutional and disciplinary boundaries. Drawing on its independent positioning, it encourages innovation in practice and actively explores links with adjacent fields such as development cooperation, science and technology.

As a 'Mechanisms Atelier', the GHRH works with international partners to develop, pilot and refine new approaches to effective human rights implementation, ensuring that insights generated through collaboration are fed back into policy and practice. This work is supported by a strong emphasis on practice-oriented research, as well as the organization of high-level events, diplomatic briefings, expert roundtables and confidential exchanges.

A ‘TRAINING CENTER’

The GHRH strengthens the ability of civil society, international and national public institutions, the scientific community and the private sector to navigate, use and engage effectively with Geneva-based human rights mechanisms and bodies.

Through tailored courses, workshops and applied learning formats, the GHRH equips participants with practical skills to translate engagement with international human rights mechanisms into policy-relevant action and cross-sector impact, connecting human rights with broader thematic and institutional processes.

Training at the GHRH is hands-on and practice-driven, built around direct engagement with professionals who work daily within human rights mechanisms. Through close interaction with these experts, participants gain a lived understanding of how mechanisms operate in practice, moving beyond theory to real-world application.
